Jesus begins his work of public teaching and preaching at the synagogue in Capernaum, a sizeable town on the Sea of Galilee.  There we read of his first direct confrontation with an evil spirit, an encounter which swiftly ends in a stunning display of Jesus' complete spiritual authority.
